The first, the greatest, the utmost… whatever!

The first verse of the German national anthem is not to be quoted as it is considered to reflect Nazi ideas. Especially the line “Deutschland, Deutschland über alles, über alles in der Welt“ (literally: „Germany, Germany above everything in the world“), has been banned.

When August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben texted these lines in 1841, he had a united German nation in mind that would stand above all the numerous small and minor states and princedoms that – not everytime in a friendly manner – co-existed on German grounds then. Hence, the initial meaning of the banned lines of the Lied der Deutschen cannot be compared to “America first”, the slogan of the current US President.

Although, during the Nazi regime in Germany in the first half of the last century, the Nazis abused this very line to claim Germany to stand above all nations in the world (as the words of the cited verse might implement), the initial intent of Hoffmann von Fallersleben is comparable to the ideas of the constitution of the United States: To unite several minor states under one flag to stand together as one nation.

That in mind, it is unbearable to see DJT using the phrase “America first!” in his campaign – and then winning the elections to the presidency. Of course, most of the electors have not participated in WW II. They have not seen the cruelties the Nazis had committed in Europe and on the African continent under the banner of “Deutschland, Deutschland über alles!”. Eat this: In Germany, it is forbidden to sing a misinterpreted line of our national anthem. In the US, you can win elections to the presidency with nationalistic slogans.

To those who hoped that DJT would smoothen after his inauguration as President of the United States: WAKE UP! Since at least the Executive Order on Immigration as of January 27, 2017, you should have become aware of his true intents behind “America first!”. DJT’s Counselor to the President, Kellyanne Conway, quoted at “Fox News Sunday” on January 29, 2017, that of approx. 350,000 air passengers who arrived on Saturday, January 28, only approx. 350 (in her understanding this would be about one per cent… - do I need to point out the lack of her mathematical skills?) were arrested temporarily before the individual case of each one of those 350 air passengers would be examined thoroughly in order to decide who would have to be deported afterwards.

Am I getting that in the right way? She talks about deportation of unwanted persons – based on an Executive Order which needs to be reviewed by US-American courts because not only individual persons, but Human and Civil Rights organizations as well as the recently installed Attorney General are unanimously of the opinion that this Executive Order violates applicable law and is a gross breach of fundamental rights.

But let’s get back to the use of the phrase “who would have to be deported”. Does this ring a bell anywhere? I found some comments on facebook under the link to the interview – very many of them with special respect to the person of the Counselor to the President, herself. One of the many, many posts there named her Kellyanne Goebbels (for those who do really not know what this means: Paul Joseph Goebbels has been Hitler’s head of propaganda of the Third Reich from 1930 until his suizide on May 1st, 1945).

The comparison seems likely, as DJT himself has been compared to Hitler as well several times before. By signing the Executive Order on Immigration last Friday, he has confirmed this theory very well. And Kellyanne Goebbels Conway makes every effort to meet his requirements and to remind the press and media not to criticize the precious President at all, by threatening those who are not acting in line with DJT’s (and therefore also her) ambitions (“We know all the headlines, we know all their names”).

If – by now – there are still people in this world saying to let him act and wait for the outcome: Be warned, because almost 90 years ago, there had been rumours about an Austrian postcards illustrator with black hair who aimed to breed a new blond German/Arian race ruling the world –by amongst other means annihilation of minor races and other unwanted persons.

DJT has been President of the United States for less than a fortnight by now – but he has already made an impression which is – aside from the comparison above – second to none.
@Kellyanne Conway: Should you ever become aware of this blog – don’t be scared: I am not a US-American citizen and I am not going to visit the United States during DJT’s presidency. Thank you very much!
